It has been sunny and hot and beautiful these last few weeks and the garden is coming along nicely! After the jump are a ton of photos of garden progress.
^ Wild flowers
^ Spanish broom
^ We have cleared the planted area on the side of the yard of all the overgrown grasses and weeds and have started planting new stuff including mullien, peppermint, lemon balm and jasmine.
^ J has built a set of stairs and gate on the side of the bushes leading to the lower part of the yard. Along the sides we have planted hollyhock, lavender, cat mint, yarrow, maroon hibiscus, oregano, comfrey and thyme.
^ The chicken coop still needs to be painted but the clematis is looking good!
^ The raspberries have started filling out, and the calendulas planted at the base are flowering
^ The violas have finally flowered! They remind me of Alice in Wonderland.
^ Our cilantro bolted straight to seed, but at least that’s something. I’ve planted some additional seeds which we will not try to transplant, as that is what usually drives it to bolt. The calendulas are doing fabulously.
^ The bird babies have grown and left the nest so we can use our deck again without stressing the momma bird.
^ These tomato plants are taller than me now.
^ Apples, pears and hibiscus
^ The sorghum seeds have sprouted
^ So have the hummingbird vines!
^ The greenhouse is crowded
