My pile of books to read is growing to scary proportions. Does that stop me from bringing more books home? Heck no. This week I picked up second hand copies of:
The Lowland by Jhumpa Lahiri
Fifteen Dogs by Andre Alexis
Eating Animals by Jonathan Safran Foer
The Girl on the Train by Paula Hawkins
Speak by Laurie Halse Anderson
Caucasia by Danzy Senna
Breasts: A Natural and Unnatural History by Florence Williams
Does anyone else buy copies of books they have already read? I got nice paperback copies of Girl on the Train and The Lowland that I have already read but didn’t have on my shelf. I also did manage to purge a huge pile of books off my shelf. Mostly doubles, old mass market paperbacks, fantasy novels, and stuff I grabbed but don’t think I’ll get around to reading. Woo hoo!
Nice to know someone still reads books! I do have copies of books I’ve read. I had to build shelves to house them all…hopefully a blog post one day! 🙂
I buy books I’ve already read . . . and occasionally I even buy another copy of a book I already own. Usually it’s because it’s a different edition—I bought 1Q84 in the three-volume paperback edition because I hate reading such giant hardcovers, and Eats Shoots & Leaves because the paperback version had a sticker sheet in the back!
