I recently picked up a small pour over coffee system from Homestead Junction designed to fit onto a mason jar made by Eco Jarz. It’s a pretty cute little gadget; there’s a perforated stainless steel cup, cloth filter, tamper, lid and perforated tray that all stack together to provide ground free coffee or tea in the wide mouth mason jar. The components also all fit into the mason jar for easy transport. It’s taken a bit of getting used to – if you pour too fast sometimes it overflows the tray, but if you go slow it filters well and is all very easy to clean. I love the simplicity of the design, that it is portable, and that it is made with stainless steel. HJ has them for $15 which seemed like a good deal because a two-pack of cloth filters for our Chemex cost about the same. I have yet to try it for tea, but it’s been handy with morning coffee!
