New Tattoo: The Hermit

To continue my tradition of collecting tattoos while traveling, I got a new piece while in Ho Chi Minh City last week. The studio, Saigon Ink, does predominantly line work tattoos so I kept with that theme (my first large black only tattoo!) and decided to get the Hermit from the Rider-Waite tarot deck. The Hermit is my favourite of the major arcana cards, and I had the design tattooed exactly as it appears on the traditional Rider-Waite card. The artist did a really great job!

Here’s a collection of all the hermits from my tarot decks… so beautiful. The Hermit represents introspection and searching for inner truth. It is about spending time away from others, isolation and solitude, and also about being happy alone and associating only with those on your level. I really identify with this card as I enjoy my time alone and definitely like avoiding people haha. It is number 9 in the tarot.

  1. Wow, your cards are so pretty. I had never heard of the hermit before, and i love what he stands for. I agree, solitude is so good for the soul and I love having my alone time here and there!

  2. Well done!
I use to have a beautiful deck that I loved for the art…now I can’t remember who did it because I’d replace it if I could! It was used in a Renaissance faire and I loved the pics on the cards…if only I could remember!
