This week there’s an assortment of science fiction, poetry, historical fiction, literary and graphic novel that all have one thing in common; they were written by a lesbian author.
- Are You My Mother? by Alison Bechdel
- Where the Words End and My Body Begins by Amber Dawn
- Slow River by Nicola Griffith
- Fat is a Feminist Issue by Susie Orbach
- Sister Outsider by Audre Lorde
- Why Be Happy When You Could Be Normal? by Jeanette Winterson
- Stone Butch Blues by Leslie Feinberg
- Odd Girls and Twilight Lovers by Lillian Faderman
- The Argonauts by Maggie Nelson
- Chelsea Girls by Eileen Myles
- The Female Man by Joanna Russ
- The Night Watch by Sarah Waters
- Hotel World by Ali Smith
They may all identify as being lesbians, but they are not all lesbians.
Yes, labelling them all as lesbians is problematic, it should probably be more of a “women who like women” sort of category.
