This week’s top ten is a closer look at some of the Native authors I have been reading or have on my TBR pile. Diversifying my reading list was a huge priority for me last year and will be going forward in my reading adventures, and reading authors indigenous to the area I live in and the rest of my country -and beyond- is super interesting. I was especially impressed with Liz Howard’s poetry, and Thomas King is an exceptional writer (The Inconvenient Indian is an incredible book). Lots of great books here!
- My Body is a Book of Rules by Elissa Washuta
- They Called me Number One by Bev Sellars
- Infinite Citizen of the Shaking Tent by Liz Howard
- Medicine Walk by Richard Wagamese
- Birdie by Tracey Lindberg
- First Peoples in Canada McMillan & Yellowhorn
- The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian by Sherman Alexie
- I am Woman by Lee Maracle
- The Back of the Turtle by Thomas King
- The Round House by Louise Erdrich
Diary of a Part Time Indian is on my eventual TBR.
It’s been on mine for a while! Soon…
