Top 10 Tuesday: Native Authors

01_30_2017_44

This week’s top ten is a closer look at some of the Native authors I have been reading or have on my TBR pile. Diversifying my reading list was a huge priority for me last year and will be going forward in my reading adventures, and reading authors indigenous to the area I live in and the rest of my country -and beyond- is super interesting. I was especially impressed with Liz Howard’s poetry, and Thomas King is an exceptional writer (The Inconvenient Indian is an incredible book). Lots of great books here!

  1. My Body is a Book of Rules by Elissa Washuta
  2. They Called me Number One by Bev Sellars
  3. Infinite Citizen of the Shaking Tent by Liz Howard
  4. Medicine Walk by Richard Wagamese
  5. Birdie by Tracey Lindberg
  6. First Peoples in Canada McMillan & Yellowhorn
  7. The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian by Sherman Alexie
  8. I am Woman by Lee Maracle
  9. The Back of the Turtle by Thomas King
  10. The Round House by Louise Erdrich
