Top 10 Tuesday: Trans and Genderqueer Authors

03_21_2017_01

This week I thought it would be good to put together a top 10 of the books I’ve read by trans or genderqueer authors. I wasn’t sure I would make it to 10 but then it was easy! Julia Serano is one of my favourite authors, and Stone Butch Blues by Leslie Feinberg absolutely blew me away when I first read it. I also remember really enjoying Janet Mock’s memoir and though I haven’t yet read Chelsea Girls, Eileen Myle’s Inferno was a wild ride. Lots of great stuff here.

  1. Chelsea Girls by Eileen Myles
  2. Beyond Binary edited by Brit Mandelo
  3. She’s Not There by Jennifer Finney BOylan
  4. Gender Failure by Ivan E. Coyote and Rae Spoon
  5. Butch is a Noun by S. Bear Bergman
  6. Whipping Girl: A Transsexual Woman on Sexism and the Scapegoating of Femininity by Julia Serano
  7. Stone Butch Blues by Leslie Feinberg
  8. Gaga Feminism: Sex, Gender and the End of Normal by J. Jack Halberstam
  9. Rethinking Normal by Katie Rain Hill
  10. Redefining Realness: My Path to Womanhood, Identity, Love & So Much More by Janet Mock
