The Week in Books #5

04_06_2017_09

THE WEEK IN BOOKS number 5! This week I finished a few books: Girl in Pieces by Kathleen Glasgow, The Mothers by Brit Bennett, and Dear Ijeawele, or a Feminist Manifesto in Fifteen Suggestions by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie. All three were strong in their own way, and very enjoyable! Books started this week; Caucasia by Danzy Senna.

New additions to the shelf this week: Disgruntled by Asali Solomon and What it Means When a Man Falls From the Sky by Lesley Nneka Arimah. I’ve been looking forward to reading Disgruntled foreverrrrr, and finally found a cheap (ex-library) copy! I’ve heard great things about What it Means… and can’t wait to dive into this short story collection.

I also got some books I ordered online quite a while ago but only just arrived, Sun Signs, Rising Signs, and Super Tarot, all by Sasha Fenton. I collected a few tarot and astrology books when I was researching for my tarot deck, but I’ve finished it off now and Super Tarot came a bit too late to be helpful for the guidebook. Too bad too, it has lots of great info in it! I really like Sasha’s conversational style of writing, and she really knows her stuff.

Anyone else get any new books this week? Finish anything good? ā¤

  1. I’ve just read for the second time Sigil by Aidan J Reid (another blogger here on wp). It’s a lovely thriller. Aidan has two books for sale on amazon (I have them both and they are so completely different in storyline). but I absolutely loved both of them. Check them out. Pathfinders (I think it was his first book) is about lucid dreaming. Amazing subject.
