Happy Tuesday! This week for Top 10 Tuesday I’m sharing the second installment of my top 10 favourite authors: J. K. Rowling.
I was late to the Harry Potter scene, but when I finally made the discovery I fell super hard. I became a huge fan of the Harry Potter series, OBVIOUSLY, but I also really enjoyed Rowling’s other books The Casual Vacancy and the Cormoran Strike novels. I really enjoy her writing style, and even defended her to an ex who claimed that, because she uses “he said” “she said” a lot instead of other, more descriptive words, she was a crappy writer. I disagreed; she has created an entire world filled with richly developed and loveable characters, and captivated an entire generation of readers! Any writer capable of doing those things is clearly an incredibly talented storyteller. Being a writer does not need to mean using a bunch of fluffy language all the time.
I could go on forever about how much I love the Harry Potter series. I love it so much, actually, that in a few weeks time we will be visiting the Wizarding World of Harry Potter in Orlando, Florida. I’m ridiculously excited! I’ve really got to thank J. K. Rowling for creating this amazing thing that has brought so much happiness to people, especially in a time where everything seems to be such a downer. Potterhead 4 Eva!
