Vegan Pizza Pops


PIZZA PIZZA PIZZA POPS POPS POPS. Anyone else eat a ton of these when they were growing up? I not-so-secretly love these disgusting and lava hot pizza treats, but they are obviously not the greatest frozen food purchase one could make. So I thought I’d try to make my own at home, and make them vegan for the win.


Jump on back to my post about vegan pizza dough (right here!), and make a batch for your pizza pops (or make a double batch and freeze some). I’ve reposted the recipe here as well:

Vegan Pizza Dough

1 1/4 cup non-dairy milk
1 tsp sugar
2 tsp instant yeast
3 cups flour
2 tsp baking powder
1 1/2 tsp salt
2 tbsp oil

Throw all of the ingredients into a food processor or mixer and replace any blade fittings with plastic dough ones, if you have them. Blend until the ingredients form a ball of dough, with my Ninja (check it out here) it takes about 15 seconds.

Take the ball of dough and divide into two equal halves. wrap in saran wrap and allow to rise for about an hour. Preheat your oven to 425ºF.

After the dough has risen and is ready to roll out, rip off small chunks and roll them out into circles about 6″ in diameter, then place some pizza sauce, daiya cheez and any other toppings you want (I did pineapple garlic). Careful not to overfill, you don’t really need a lot. Once your toppings are in, fold the dough into a pocket and seal the edges with a fork.


Lay the pizza pops out on a greased baking tray, putting a few punctures in the top for venting (if you don’t, the seam will probably bust and you’ll lose some cheese) then bake for 15-20 minutes, checking occasionally to prevent broken seams or burning, or until golden brown.


As is the case with frozen Pizza Pops, be careful because the filling gets really, really hot! Like scald-your-face-off-hot haha. If you want to make a whole bunch and freeze them, I would freeze them before baking just wrapped in a freezer ziploc. These things are sooo tasty, and a little less gross than the store bought kind 🙂
