There is an herbal nursery in Nanaimo (Cedar) that we have been meaning to go to for a long time, but never quite got around to it. Even though it was a little late in the season we did make a trip there mid-June and we were really surprised at all the great stuff they still had. We grabbed a few things and they’ve all been growing along quite happily in the sunshine! Here are some photos I grabbed so we could have a record of what everything was.
^ The white flowers on this valerian are so cute!
^ St. John’s Wart
^ Black goji berries
^ Lemon grass
This German chamomile is already flowering! I’ve wanted a big patch of chamomile for a while, but have had a hard time getting starters. Finally this year I started a few from seed and also grabbed these last ones from Hazelwood. Yay 🙂
Lady’s Mantle has already made great progress.
^ Motherwort
The opium poppies have already flowered and look great!
^ Verbena
^ Fireball bee balm
^ Wormwood
Wild tobacco has already gone to seed!
^ Skullcap
The betony also has a lot of new growth on it.
^ hyssop
^ Milk thistle
^ I finally got some chicory as well! Took me long enough haha.
They’ve all been planted in groups and we are hoping they will fill out quickly. I’m pretty excited about the stuff we got and next year we will go right at the start of the season for the best selection. DEFINITELY go check out Hazelwood Herb Farm if you are in the Cedar area!!
I love your herb garden and really enjoyed your unique variety. I usually expect to see oregano and mint and it was so exciting to see more herbs. They look so healthy and beautifully planted!

Aw thanks! We got pretty tired of the same standard herbs too, I was so happy to see all the medicinal stuff Hazelwood had that we don’t get on Gabriola ❤️
[…] months ago we visited Hazelwood Herb Farm to pick out some medicinal herbs for our garden (Post here!) and planted a bunch of them together in one of the beds near the hazelnut trees. They grew fairly […]
