We planted a small patch of nasturtiums this spring and were really surprised at how huge they got! Check out these progress shots:
Finally it erupted in flowers and we have been drying them regularly for tea blends and nasturtium powder. They are such a pretty – and tasty! – flower. I also love the shape of the leaves, they look like airborne lily pads.
Oh how I love nasturtiums…as a child I ate them all the time. the whole plant. My mother was ahead of her times and would add them to our salads etc. We tried to grow them at one of our last houses with no success. As I scrolled through my reader I saw them in all their glory on your post. How awesome they look. Tea! I would love to try that.
Your mom knew some good salad tricks! I love how spicy they are. I hope you can get them to grow too 💞
Yes she was. Back in the 70’s she used fruit in cooking…roast pears etc….then in the 80’s it became the norm…frontier woman
Nasturtiums are one of my favorite plants! I grew some beautiful plants in Minnesota but had opposite results in Mississippi. Yours look AWESOME!
Thank you! They are such a neat plant, so spicy!
Kind of a peppery cabbage flavor if I remember correctly.
