The Week in Books #29

Welcome 2020! Things were pretty hectic over the end of December with the holidays and our house being sick with the flu, so not much reading was had. But for the new year I am planning to read more often and spend less time on my phone, so I’ve compiled a stack of books I’ve collected over the last few months that I am excited to read. I have enough to last me the whole year at this pace, though it would be super nice to read all these plus some others! Let’s see how it goes.

Clearly, there are a few so I won’t list them all. I’ve just finished Where the Crawdad Sings by Delia Owens and am about to pick up The Power by Naomi Alderman.

I fell behind on recording the books I completed last year but I did snap a few pics that I’ll share. I’m ready to start fresh for 2020 and blast my way through as many new titles as I can, particularly the ones I already have copies of.

What are you reading this year?

  1. I loved Where the Crawdads Sing – it was one of my favourites for last year. I see your reading The Power – I’d be interested to know if you liked it. It wasn’t for me, I’m afraid. I’m just about to read Girl,Woman, Other by Bernardine Evaristo.

    • Crawdads was a good read for sure. That ending! It felt a bit like the reader wasn’t getting the whole story though, I don’t think I’ve read a book where the event that the whole novel revolves around isn’t actually told to the reader.
