For the past few days the lower mainland has been buried under a huge cloud of smoke blowing up from the out-of-control wildfires burning in Washington, Oregon and California. This has caused the air quality in our province, Vancouver specifically, to be among the worst in the world. Above is a photo of the view from our balcony.

We have all been advised to stay indoors as the air quality health index is at its highest level, 10+ Very High Risk. My heart goes out to everyone currently in the wildfires in the USA, and to those who have lost theirs homes and loved ones. Hoping for autumn rains to begin very soon.
Rains cannot come soon enough. We’ve been cooped up because of the virus anyway, but now it’s hazardous to go on a hike in the middle of nowhere, to say nothing of going shopping. Here’s hoping for rain!
We got rain shortly after I posted this! Not sure if it rained in the area of the wildfires but fingers crossed they get some rainfall very soon.
Those four weeks were so surreal. Four weeks of such bad air quality I couldn’t even go walking in the morning. It felt like eternity. And I think the fires are still going strong, but here in the Bay Area the air has finally gotten better.

I’m glad the air is cleaner, it’s so rough on the lungs and also on the brain because it looks apocalyptic outside 😭
It is, and does! I’ve never seen a sky this dark during the day before. Although it was never as orange as it was in San Francisco, but it looked very apocalyptic. 😳
